Let’s support gospel musicians to grow – Tiwa

One of the female gospel musicians, Elizabeth Tiwa has called on all Ghanaians to join hands with the government and help the local gospel musicians to actualize their dreams.

She said gospel music went a long way in building the nation’s psyche. She, therefore, entreated everybody to give them enough support.

In an interview, she said the face of gospel music in Ghana had for some time now been changing for the better in terms of quality of music presentation, adding that “This was because of its ministerial essence rather than as a form of entertainment”.

She believed there was more room for improvement and she foresaw better times ahead.

She added that the responsibility of meeting better times will not solely fall on the musicians, but the entire nation, as it had a crucial role to play; hence the need for government and individual participation in the crusade.

The gospel musician, who called for measures to improve the standards of gospel music videos in Ghana to make them viable on the international scene, indicated that she was in the gospel music fraternity both by choice and by calling and that she would contribute her quota in taking Ghanaian gospel music to a higher level.

“Gospel music can go very far if we give it the requisite attention and stop treating it as a less important genre of music that is all about standing beside a river or a rock or a tree to sing. No. Gospel music is far above that and the countries that have taken that the genre serious have created international music heavyweights and I believe we can also get there as a country,” she noted.

The gospel sensation confirmed that she would soon sign on to a new record label and that the world should watch out for what would come out of it in no time.
